How about Credit Cards? Are they Secure and how does it work?
We have been asked about how our Credit Card System works. Systems like Amazon.com and PayPal.com require you to maintain a user name and password for viewing/accessing your shopping cart/information as well as cookies or IP address numbers for identification. On Amazon.com when viewing your shopping cart or checking out you will be asked to "Sign In" on their "Secure Server", records are kept on your buying/spending history that can be accessed electronically at a later date.
Our system does not maintain user names or passwords for shopping carts. Either a temporary cookie or your computers IP address is used to identify you as a specific shopper (not by name or address). Shopping carts are used and discarded after completion of an order or held for a few hours if the order is not completed, then deleted. We keep the email we receive containing your order for our records. When you hit "ENTER" after filling out the shipping information a "Secure Server" page is loaded by PlugNPay, Inc., our online MasterCard/Visa Credit Card Processor. PlugNPay, Inc. maintains their Secure Server Web Site(s) (many sites nationally) and handles all the credit card information and the approval check and payment transaction of your credit card.
We have received some questions about the "Secure/Non Secure" message that may appear on screen during the Credit Card Process so a few words on that topic.
First: When adding things to your shopping cart at JWMercantile.com you are using a non-secure web page. There is nothing to secure, only items in the cart and quantities (even Amazon.com uses Non Secure pages when adding to shopping carts).
Second: You click "Click To Order" and you will fill in your "Shipping Information", again "Non Secure" information that can be found in any phone book.
Third: You click "ENTER" and you are taken to a "Secure Server Page" where Credit Card numbers and expiration dates are entered. This information is processed by PlugNPay, Inc. on their Secure Servers. You can see the "Yellow Lock" on the bottom left side of your Explorer/Netscape page which indicates a "Secure Server Page". Note: When you enter your log in name and password on Amazon.com to view or complete your order you are also taken to a "Secure Server Page", this is a similar process.
Fourth: After your Credit Card is processed you will be returned to one of your previously visited JWMercantile.com web pages. During this process you may get a message that notes you are going to a page that contains "Non Secure" Information. That is true, all the normal web pages on our site are "Non Secure". Depending on how your Web Browser (Explorer/Netscape) Security Settings are configured you may or may not see this message.
We hope this helps you understand the process and how your secure credit card information is handled.
How about Help or Information Pages?
There are several different pages available that have information.
Information Pages.
How about International Sales?
Currently our sales are limited to the United States. We do plan to expand this at a later date.
How about Kart Part Source?
The Kart Parts are from inventory left over after closing out a Kart Parts Shop. All "New Kart Parts" are "Factory New" and most still have factory wrappings on them. The majority of the parts in the our Kart Parts Inventory are new. There are some used parts. The used parts will be identified in the description listing of that part. Most of these used parts came from engines being rebuilt, engine changes and customer trade-ins. Used items are all in excellent to like new condition.
How about Locations of the Cover Page Photos?
Our photos were taken in our travels with a Nikon Digital Camera. Most are of National or State Parks from Florida to California.
How about Money Orders?
If Money Orders or other Bank Drafts are used as payment. We expect the Money Order to be at our office within 5 business days of your order. If we do not receive it within that time period, we consider the order to be cancelled.
How about PayPal?
PayPal is completely FREE and secure for the user. PayPal now has a "Buyer Protection Plan" and a "Seller Protection Plan" in place.
Signing up for PayPal takes only a few minutes and requires that you have a credit card account. PayPal has 56,000,000 account members and is growing daily. PayPal been in use on eBay for a long time now and they process $48 million dollars worth of transactions each day.
We feel that having a central place processing credit card information without passing your credit card numbers at each transaction site is smart. We use it ourselves.
PayPal was purchased by eBay in 2002.
